The Story Behind
Humble & Kind
Hi! I'm Holly and I never envisioned myself as flower farmer.
I had been a newspaper reporter before transitioning into a career with the local court system. Although I grew up on a small farm in Brown City, MI, I didn't have a lot of experience growing things myself, beyond maintaining a small vegetable garden.

Then in 2020, when COVID-19 precautions at work left me at home far more than I had ever been before in my adult life, I was looking for things to keep myself busy. Instead of making a sourdough starter, I decided to try my hand at growing the flowers. I set aside a small corner of my vegetable garden to put in five flower beds, and bought a seed collection from Floret.
I got so much joy from those first flowers, and quickly found I had far more than I knew what to do with. Mason jars of flowers ended up with family and friends all summer. Each time, I was struck by how much people appreciated a simple bouquet.

And so the flower stand was born. I told myself it was just going to be a way for me to justify buying more seeds and dahlia tubers, feeding my own addiction. Instead, I found myself selling out of sweet little jars of my blooms. Each year, the number of flowers I've planted has grown, and each year, they have found homes with people who take joy in them. It's more than I ever dreamed, and I can't wait to see where things continue to grow.
Thanks for joining me on this journey to spread a bit more joy!
